This is a 3-pin automatic transmission speed sensor with O-ring for many Honda and Acura cars, SUVs and minivans. It reports shaft speed to the transmission computer so it can time the gear shifts. A failing speed sensor often causes harsh or erratic shifting, limp mode, a dead speedometer or a check engine light.
